(9620) Ericidle is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 17 March 1993 as part of the Uppsala-ESO Survey of Asteroids and Comets on La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named on March 20, 2000 after the English actor , film producer , director , composer and book author Eric Idle (* 1943), who was a founding member of the British comedian group Monty Python .
