The 2009/10 season was the 17th regular staging of the first division , the second Slovak ice hockey division . Master was the ŠHK 37 Piešťany , who qualified for the Extraliga relegation , in which he was subject to the MsHK Žilina . The MšHK Prievidza rose to the 2nd division.

In the main round, each of the 14 teams played a total of 38 games. The eight best-placed teams after the main round qualified for the playoffs. The bottom of the table after the main round was relegated to the 2nd division. For the remaining five teams, the season ended prematurely. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, and one point for a defeat after overtime. No points were awarded for a defeat after normal time.
