10forBrass is a professional brass ensemble . It consists of twelve musicians who have studied at the music academies in Berlin , Frankfurt am Main , Hamburg , Hanover , Cologne , Leipzig , Stuttgart and Weimar , have permanent engagements in German symphony orchestras and, since the ensemble was founded in 2010, regular joint concerts at home and abroad Give abroad. In June 2013 the first recording "Portrait" was released on the Genuin classics label , and in June 2015 the ensemble released the second CD recording "Original". The third publication dedicated to opera music will appear in March 2019. In addition to the common literature for ensembles of 10, 10forBrass is dedicated to expanding the repertoire for this standard formation. So the musicians were and are increasingly placing orders for new compositions and arrangements .

Concert activity

The ensemble was founded in 2010 by young musicians from all over Germany. Among other things, 10forBrass performed at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in 2011 and 2013 , gave concerts at the MDR Music Summer 2012 and 2014 and the Hohenloher Kultursommer 2014. The musicians play at major festivals and nationwide in large halls, such as a “lunch concert” in the Philharmonie Berlin in front of over 1,000 spectators and at the season opening concert of the Philharmonie Essen .

On December 22, 2013, the Franco-German cultural channel ARTE broadcast an episode of the program “Stars von Morgen” with Rolando Villazón , in 10forBrass with interpretations of Dmitri Shostakovich's “Festive Overture Op.96” and Irving Berlin's “Puttin 'on the Ritz” “Was presented.

The members of the ensemble have all played in international selected orchestras, including the Young German Philharmonic , the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra , the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Lower Saxony and the Orchestra Academy of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival . The repertoire ranges from Johann Sebastian Bach and Dmitri Shostakovich to George Gershwin and Chick Corea , whose pieces are arranged for brass .
