Events
- Gaius Sempronius Gracchus was elected a second time to the tribune of the people , breaking the ban on iteration . However, the Optimates succeed in having Marcus Livius Drusus elected as his colleague in order to thwart his land reforms .
- Gaius Sempronius Gracchus founds a Roman colony on the soil of Carthage . Marcus Livius Drusus makes clever use of his absence. Since colonization in Italy is always more popular than such projects outside of Italy, he for his part requests the establishment of twelve new colonies on Italian soil and demands that only Roman citizens should be involved, not, as Gracchus suggested, all allied with Rome Italians . However, this project, which brought Drusus the enthusiasm of the Roman plebeians, was never implemented.
- The Romans found the city of Aquae Sextiae in Gaul .
- 123 / v 122nd Chr .: The Lex iudiciaria , a law of Gaius Sempronius Gracchus , which reforms the judiciary of the Roman Republic in favor of the equestrian order and at the expense of the senators , is passed. However, whether this is one or more laws and whether this law (eswerk) includes the entire judicial system or only refers to the repetition procedure is still not clearly clarified in research.
