Toxicology and the Environment

Based on current knowledge, the acute oral toxicity of TOSU is classified as low. There are almost no human toxicological tests.

In the period from April to July 2008, TOSU was detected in the drinking water of waterworks on the Ruhr in concentrations between 0.4 and 3.6 micrograms per liter. The substance ended up in the Ruhr with the production waste water of a company in Arnsberg . By commissioning a reverse osmosis system at the discharger, the concentration was reduced to less than 0.1 micrograms per liter.
