The 1998/99 season of the 2nd men's volleyball division was the twenty-fifth edition of this competition.

2nd Bundesliga North

FC Schüttorf became champions and promoted to the 1st Bundesliga . The VG Alstertal-Harksheide, Rumelner TV and SV Altencelle were relegated or retreated.

SVC Nordhausen won the championship, although it did not go ahead. In return, the second-placed ASV Dachau exercised the right of promotion. SG Rodheim and MTV Stuttgart had to relegate.
