The FC Schüttorf 09 e. V. is a sports club based in Schüttorf ( Grafschaft Bentheim ) . The club offers eleven sports. The soccer, handball and volleyball departments are particularly successful. The first men's soccer team played from 2013 to 2015 and from 2018 in the Landesliga Weser-Ems , the first men's handball team in the Landesliga Weser-Ems and the first men's volleyball team in the Second Bundesliga North .
FC 09 currently has around 3,000 members, making it the second largest club in the county of Bentheim. 203 athletes achieved the sports badge in 2008. Around 800 runners took part in the first Schüttorf OLB City Run, which was organized by the club for the first time in 2009.

As a popular sports club , FC Schüttorf 09 offers badminton , archery , boules , football , handball , karate , swimming , table tennis , volleyball , gymnastics , water polo and numerous fitness, health and rehabilitation courses. With 43 teams, handball players form the largest division of the club alongside soccer players.
Soccer
history
The soccer department of FC Schüttorf 09 has a long tradition in the club and can look back on a hundred-year history. Since the 1960s Schüttorf played in the District League West. At the end of the 1990s one rose to the Oberliga Niedersachsen / Bremen and won the Lower Saxony Cup in 2001 . This entitled to participation in the DFB-Pokal , where they were eliminated 1: 4 against SSV Reutlingen 05 in the first round .
Known players
Simon Cziommer is one of the former FC 09 players with national fame . He comes from the youth of the club before moving to neighboring Enschede in the Netherlands . Most recently he was under contract with the Dutch first division club Heracles Almelo , where he ended his active career in 2015.
From 2002 to 2010 Kay Wenschlag played in Schüttorf. The defender previously worked for Werder Bremen , Hansa Rostock , Energie Cottbus and VfL Osnabrück , among others . From 2012 to 2014 he was the coach of the men's team, after having previously worked as a youth coach at the club for years, parallel to his playing career.
In the 2004/05 season, the former Lithuanian international Vidmantas Vyšniauskas was under contract with FC Schüttorf 09.
Stadion
The club's own Holmers-Kamp stadium on Salzbergener Straße, which is managed by the city of Schüttorf, has a capacity of 5,000 spectators. It has a roofed grandstand with 120 seats and standing beams on all long sides of the square. In 1991 the first soccer fields were inaugurated, the official opening of the "Sportpark Schüttorf" took place in 1995. Only the training fields have floodlights .

The first men's team has been playing in the North Season of the Second Bundesliga since the 2012/13 season . The coach has been the former national player Ralph Bergmann since 2011 .

Henning Wegter and Thorsten Schoen are among the most famous volleyball players at FC Schüttorf 09 .

FC Schüttorf plays its games in the Vechtehalle in Schüttorf.
Handball
The women's handball team plays in the North Sea handball league .
Water polo
FC Schüttorf 09 is the only club in the county of Bentheim to offer the sport of water polo . The league team played in the Association League North / West for many years in the 1970s and 1980s.
