The 2nd Far Eastern Front ( Russian 2-й Дальневосточный фронт ) was a formation of the Red Army , which was formed together with the Transbaikal Front and the 1st Far Eastern Front from May 1945 from the Far Eastern Front in the area north of the Amur and on Kamchatka to support those in the Tehran Conference and Yalta Conference to fulfill the Soviet Union's commitment to enter the war against Japan three months after the victory in the West . All three fronts as well as thePacific Fleet were subordinate to the High Command of the Soviet Forces in the Far East .

Army General M. A. Purkaev became the commander of the 2nd Far Eastern Front , (1st) member of the Military Council Lieutenant General D. S. Leonov and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General FI Shechenko. The 2nd Far Eastern Front consisted of the 2nd Red Banner Army, the 16th Army, the 5th Independent Rifle Corps, the 10th Air Army and the fortified area of ​​Kamchatka, as well as an Air Defense Army as a means of conducting air defense. In addition, there were associations, troops and units that were directly subordinate to the front.
