Steppe front
The steppe front ( Russian Степной фронт ) was a military formation of the Red Army during the Second World War . The front was formed on July 7, 1943 from the Steppe Military District . It comprised the rear areas west of Kursk along the line Tula - Jelez - Stary Oskol - Rossosh (Тула-Елец-Старый Оскол-Россошь). The front existed until October 20, 1943, when it was renamed the 2nd Ukrainian Front. During this time, when she also took part in the Battle of Kursk , she was under the command of Colonel General Ivan Stepanovich Konev .

On October 20, 1943, the steppe front was renamed the 2nd Ukrainian Front . On June 10, 1945, the large association was dissolved.
