action

November 20, 1969: The sonar specialist Commander Ahab detects a strange contact on board a US submarine. But nobody takes him seriously. The submarine is suddenly attacked by a giant whale and torn in two. Commander Ahab survives but loses his left leg.

In the present, Captain Ahab is cruising the seas in a Navy nuclear submarine to hunt the whale known as "Moby Dick". He uses whale researcher Dr. Michelle Herman and her assistant Pip on board. Moby Dick is huge, an estimated 500 feet long . Several unusual incidents have occurred, including the destruction of an oil platform. The Navy suspects Ahab as a culprit because he has not reported for several days and has been located in the respective regions.

The Navy is therefore hunting down Ahab. When a submarine detects contact, torpedoes are launched. However, the contact was with Moby Dick, who is directing the torpedoes back to the submarine and thereby destroying them. After Moby Dick locates several times, Ahab's submarine is lured by the giant whale into the shallow waters of an island and runs aground. The whale disappears in the island's lagoon. Ahab has their exit to the sea mined and now hunts his archenemy with rubber dinghies. This capsizes the boats, so that Ahab and his men now have to act from the beach. Firearms are ineffective, so Ahab shoots the whale with a harpoon, but is pulled down by a rope. The stranded submarine fires several torpedoes that miss Moby Dick. In return, it smashes the submarine. Instead, the torpedoes hit the island and make it disappear from the surface of the sea. Only whale researcher Michelle survives.

The last shot shows Moby Dick under water, who is pulling the dead Ahab behind him.

criticism

“A hate-eaten captain is chasing a gigantic white whale aboard a US Navy nuclear submarine, which caused him to lose his leg under the Arctic ice. A hair-raising spectacle based on the classic novel by Herman Melville, which is so exaggerated that trash and "Moby Dick" fans could almost have fun with the trivial gigantism again. "

“What the people of the cheap film company Asylum like most are expensive Hollywood adaptations of well-known templates whose copyrights have expired. While in the dream factory there is only rumor about the coming big Moby Dick, The Asylum sends the mayor of "Spin City" as Ahab in uniform on subtly modernized whaling and confronts him with a monster whale, for which the occasional shore leave is no particular challenge. Uninhibited action trash for friends of this kind. "
