2018 CB is a small near-Earth asteroid with a presumed mean diameter between 15 and 40 meters. He is counted to the group of the Apollo asteroids . These are celestial bodies whose orbits cross the earth's orbit .

The asteroid was discovered on February 4, 2018 in the US state of Arizona using the Catalina Sky Survey project . On February 9, 2018 at 11:03 p.m. CET , it passed Earth at a distance of 0.000431  AU (64,500 km). This distance is less than a fifth of the distance between the earth and the moon . The closest approach speed was calculated to be 7.275 km / s relative to Earth.

According to NASA researcher Paul W. Chodas, the 2018 CB asteroid posed no threat to Earth:

"Asteroids this size don't often get that close to our planet, maybe only once or twice a year."
