2020 is the 14th studio album by the American rock band Bon Jovi . It was initially due to be released on May 15, 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the release has been postponed to October 2.
background
The album was first announced on March 13, 2019 on social media . This was done, among other things, through the story function of Instagram and the upload of a silent clip in which the band can be seen at work in the Ocean Way Nashville Recording Studio . At the end of the clip the words "Day One, Song One" (German: day one, song one) appear. Again, the name of the song was not disclosed.
In the course of his Runaway-To-Paradise trip on the Norwegian Pearl , Jon Bon Jovi announced on August 27, 2019 to the weekly industry journal Variety that the upcoming album would ultimately be titled Bon Jovi: 2020 and focus on current political and social issues To make headlines. He indicated that the 59th presidential election of the United States will take place in 2020 , which is said to have supported this thematic decision. The songs would, among other things, deal with veterans who have to fight stress disorders as a result of traumatic war experiences. On October 30, 2019, the band announced that the first single Unbroken would be released on November 1, 2019. The song was written for the documentary To be of Service , which will also premiere on November 1st. All income from the marketing of the song will also be donated to the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation .
Unbroken was finally made available for download on November 1st . Furthermore, Jon Bon Jovi announced that the song will also be part of the album and that it will be released in spring 2020.
With the music magazine Pollstar Jon Bon Jovi spoke for the first time in depth about the album and explained the motivation for some songs, the names of which were also announced. These should be named as follows: Story Of Love , Lower The Flag, Blood In The Water and Beautiful Drug.

Jon Bon Jovi wrote a song about the COVID-19 pandemic called Do What You Can. He called on fans to write their own stanzas to share their experiences and experiences during the crisis. The songs Luv Can and Shine were once part of the Standard Edition, but were eventually replaced by American Reckoning and Do What You Can . Instead, Luv Can and Shine will be released as bonus tracks in Japan.
