- The Romans subjugate under consul Marcus Atilius Regulus the insurgent Sallentines in Calabria . The Via Appia is then extended to control the region from Venusia via Tarentum to Brundisium .
- The number of Quaestors in Rome will be increased from four to eight.
Eastern Mediterranean
- Athens , where the anti-Macedonian party had gained support under Chremonides , declares war on Antigonus II Gonatas , king of Macedonia . Sparta joins them. Athens and Sparta are supported by the Egyptian king Ptolemy II . Beginning of the Chremonideic War . Antigonus invades Attica .
- Ptolemy II of Egypt makes his son Ptolemy a co-ruler. During the Chremonideic War he becomes the commander of the Egyptian troops on the Ionian coast.
Asia
- 268/267 BC Chr .: The Seleucid king Antiochus I has his eldest son Seleukos executed for rebellion. In his place Antiochus II becomes heir to the throne.
