- October 6th : Babylon is occupied by the army of the Achaemenid king Cyrus II. King Nabonidus is captured. The neo-Babylonian empire ends, as does the political independence of Babylonia .
- October 22nd : Gobryas , who switched sides in the decisive battle between the Persian Empire and the Babylonian Empire, is installed as governor of Babylon by Cyrus II according to the Nabonidus chronicles .
