- Marbod becomes king of the Marcomanni , a Suebian tribe of the Germanic peoples who settled in the Main area .
- The Marcomanni under King Marbod are defeated in the main area by Roman troops under Drusus .
- Legendary foundation of Magdeburg by Drusus. Drusus is killed on the march back into the empire. The Drususstein near Mainz is possibly a cenotaph for him.
