- Late summer: The Augustan Teutonic Wars begin with the first Drusus campaign : the Germanic Batavian tribe is subjugated by the Romans under Drusus , who pushes as far as the North Sea coast .
- 13/12 : Founding of the Castra Mogontiacum, a Roman two-legion camp (approx. 36 ha) in the area of today's Mainz district of Kästrich .
