Politics and world events
- The Roman general Nero Claudius Drusus becomes governor of the Gallic provinces.
- Second extension of the imperium proconsulare of Augustus to 5 years. The imperium proconsulare was one of the central instruments of rule of Augustus and his successors (supreme authority over the legions stationed in the endangered provinces), but was never awarded to Princeeps Augustus for life, but only extended by the Senate: 18 and 13 BC. By 5 years, 8 BC. As well as 3 and 13 AD by 10 years.
- The Classis Germanica , a part of the Roman navy in Germania superior and Germania inferior , is set up to monitor the entire Rhine . It is one of the largest naval units in the Roman Empire and ranks above all other provincial fleets.
- 13/ 12 : Creation of the Castra Mogontiacum a Roman Two military camp (about 36 ha) in what is now Mainzer district Kästrich .

- The Greek architectural theorist Vitruv (Marcus Vitruvius Pollio) completes his fundamental work De architectura on civil engineering and machine technology.
Religion and culture
- The Roman Senate commissions the Ara Pacis Augustae ( Altar of Peace of Augustus ) in honor of Augustus and the Pax Romana .
- Balbus minor consecrates the named after him and from 19 BC onwards. BC built a Balbus theater .
