history

In its 150-year history, the Frauenrath group of companies has developed from a paving company to a full-service provider for everything to do with construction. In addition to a large number of traditional trades , Frauenrath also offers numerous services from project development to leasing to facility management from a single source.

The beginnings of the Frauenrath Group can be traced back to Arnold Frauenrath, who worked as a freelance paver in Hilfarth near Heinsberg in 1868 . For a long time, the family business concentrated almost exclusively on road and path construction in and around Heinsberg. When Arndt Frauenrath took over the management of the company in 1963, the company gradually turned to new business areas.

With Arndt Frauenrath the restructuring of the company begins to become a modern full-service provider for everything to do with construction. From 2000 to 2006 he held the office of President of the Central Association of the German Construction Industry (ZDB). In 2006, he was awarded the Ring of Honor of the German Construction Industry for his services to the German construction industry. Arndt Frauenrath died on March 31, 2015 at the age of 74.

Today the Frauenrath group of companies is managed by the fifth generation of Arndt Frauenrath's sons, the managing partners Gereon Frauenrath and Jörg Frauenrath. They continue the diversification course embarked on in the 1970s.

In the summer of 2018, the Frauenrath Group celebrated its 150th anniversary in Heinsberg.

Locations

In addition to the main location in Heinsberg (North Rhine-Westphalia), the group of companies has had another location in Bretnig (Saxony) since 1992 , which celebrated its 25th anniversary in the summer of 2017.

Business areas

The business areas of the Frauenrath group of companies cover a wide range of construction and services. In addition to construction work, project developments and public-private partnership projects are gaining in importance. The business fields of the group include earthworks , sewer construction and road construction , building construction , turnkey construction and project development , facility management and landscaping as well as recycling , demolition and renovation .

In addition to A. Frauenrath Bauunternehmen GmbH, the Frauenrath Group in Heinsberg also includes A. Frauenrath Recycling GmbH (since 1981), A. Frauenrath Landschaftsbau GmbH & Co. KG (founded 1985) and A. Frauenrath BauConcept GmbH (since 1999). Thomas GmbH belongs to the group from 1999 to the end of 2015.

Frauenrath Bauunternehmen GmbH was founded in Bretnig in 1992, and in 1993 and 1999 Frauenrath Recycling GmbH and Frauenrath Landschaftsbau GmbH were added to the group.

Projects

As part of the project “100 climate protection settlements in North Rhine-Westphalia” of the North Rhine-Westphalian state government , the Frauenrath group is realizing the climate protection estates WohnenPlus Erkelenz and WohnenPlus Heinsberg.

Social and Cultural Foundation A. Frauenrath

In 2000 Arndt Frauenrath established the A. Frauenrath Social and Cultural Foundation. It primarily supports families in need in Heinsberg and social projects at home and abroad. In addition, the foundation is dedicated to environmental, landscape and monument protection in the Heinsberg district and supports projects in the fields of education, culture and sport. Among other things, the foundation supported the renovation of the wayside chapel in Boverath and the Heinsberger Burgberg and Kirchberg .

Since 2016, the foundation has been awarding the Arndt Frauenrath Prize, endowed with 1,000 euros. The award is reminiscent of the building contractor Arndt Frauenrath, who, as head master of the Rurtal road construction guild, worked from 1979 to 2008 for the quality and attractiveness of the road construction profession. Once a year, the best trainee or the best trainee in the apprenticeship road builder in the district of the road builders' guild in Rurtal is honored at the proclamation celebrations.
