history

In December 1998 Niederrheinischeversorgung und Verkehr AG (NVV) was created from the Mönchengladbach municipal utilities and a merger of the RWE holdings Niederrheinische Licht- und Kraftwerke AG (NLK) and RWE Power Supply Mönchengladbach .

On December 21, 2010 the cities of Mönchengladbach and Viersen founded Niederrhein Kommunalholding GmbH and Niederrheinischeversorgung und Verkehr AG was renamed NVV AG . The city of Mönchengladbach's transport and swimming pool operations, which had been part of the NVV up to that point, were spun off into NVV mobil und aktiv GmbH (from January 9, 2012 NEW mobil and aktiv Mönchengladbach ). On January 9, 2012, the new umbrella brand NEW was introduced for all municipal holding companies (including the transport and swimming pool companies that are legally independent from NEW AG). Niederrhein Kommunalholding GmbH was renamed NEW Kommunalholding GmbH , and the previous NVV AG was renamed NEW AG. On January 1, 2015, the supply division of West Energie und Verkehr GmbH was integrated into NEW AG. NEW AG previously held a 50% stake in West Energie und Verkehr. Their transport division was spun off as a further subsidiary of the municipal holding company into the new company WestVerkehr GmbH . In return, Kreiswerke Heinsberg GmbH acquired a stake in the municipal holding company.

Network operator

NEW Netz GmbH operates the supply networks for electricity , natural gas and drinking water . The concession area for electricity extends over an area of ​​around 1,329 square kilometers. Of the three sectors, water supply has the smallest supply area; the cities of Mönchengladbach, Grevenbroich and parts of Korschenbroich with an area of ​​402 square kilometers and almost 435,000 inhabitants are supplied.

Energy and water supplier

In the area of ​​its own network area, NEW is the basic supplier for electricity and natural gas. The distribution of electricity, natural gas and water products is guaranteed by the supplier, NEW Niederrhein Energie und Wasser GmbH . Sanitation
