Aaron Spears

Aaron Darnell Spears (born October 26, 1976 in Washington, DC ) is an American drummer . He is known for his skills as a drummer in R&B and pop music styles and as a drummer for Usher and Ariana Grande .

Biography and career

Aaron Spears grew up in an African-American , devout Christian family. His interest in music was aroused in the services of a Pentecostal church, where he got to know various musical instruments .

Aaron Spears was given the opportunity to play drums for the first time in a school band. When he was 15, he gained experience with Vinnie Colaiuta and joined his first band . When Spears was 23 years old, he joined a Christian group called the Gideon Band. He became more and more famous because of his skills and was noticed by experts. A little later he joined the Funk Rock Orchestra, which Usher owned. Aaron Spears has toured with Usher and appeared on Usher's 4th album Confessions (2004).

He names drummers such as Travis Barker , Dave Weckl , Steve Smith , Stewart Copeland , Papa Jo Jones and other talented drummers as main influences. Spears also released an instructional video in October 2009 entitled Beyond The Chops: Groove, Musicality and Technique .

It is sponsored by drum manufacturers such as Zildjian , Remo (company) and Vic Firth .
