Abafala is an East Timorese place and Suco in the Quelicai administrative office ( municipality of Baucau ).

The place

The place Abafala is in the northwest of the Sucos, at an altitude of 303  m , on the overland road that connects the place Baguia with the northern coastal road. The place is crossed by the border between the sucos Abafala and Guruça . Here is the primary school of sucos, the Escola Primaria Catolica Abafala .

938 inhabitants live in Abafala (2015), of which 464 are men and 474 women. The population density is 45.7 inhabitants / km². There are 211 households in the Suco. Over 95% of the population name Makasae as their mother tongue. Minorities speak Tetum Prasa , Tetum Terik , Habun and Idalaka .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Abafala had an area of ​​3.34 km². Now there are 20.54 km². The Suco is to the north of the Quelicai administrative office. To the west and north is the Suco Guruça, to the east the Suco Uaitame and to the southwest the Sucos Baguia and Macalaco . The Otorocaiboro River , a source of the Uaimuhi, flows across Abafala .

The overland road that connects Baguia with the coast follows the western border of the Sucos. On the southwest corner of Abafala is the village of Mumana , which is partly in the area of ​​the three neighboring sucos . Also Wabere , the third largest town Abafalas is divided by a Sucogrenze. In the east it is partly in Uaitame.

The four Aldeias Assa-Loqui , Caranu , Mumana and Telaha are located in the Suco .

history

Between 1979 and 1981 the inhabitants of Sucos were forcibly relocated to Mulia ( Laga administrative office ) by the Indonesian occupying forces . It was feared that the villages that were close to the forests could support the FALINTIL . The old houses were burned down after the evacuation, fields were destroyed and the cattle were killed. Several residents were injured. Under heavy guard, the residents were brought to Mulia on trucks via the resettlement camp in Quelicai.

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Felix elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Abel D. dos Reis Moreira and 2016 Joséfa de Oliveira .
