Letemumo ( Letemuno ) is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office of Quelicai ( municipality of Baucau ).

The place

The place Letemumo is located on the northwestern border of the Sucos, at an altitude of 624  m . The primary school Escola Primaria Letemumo is located here .

Letemumo has 1,379 inhabitants (2015), of which 672 are men and 707 women. The population density is 222.2 inhabitants / km². There are 265 households in the Suco. Over 95% of the population name Makasae as their mother tongue. Tetum Prasa is spoken by less than 5% .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Letemumo had an area of ​​8.48 km². Now it is 6.21 km². The Suco is located in the center of the Quelicai Administrative Office. To the north are the Sucos Macalaco and Baguia , southwest of the Suco Lacoliu and south of the Suco Bualale .

From Quelicai , the main town of the administrative office, half of which is in Suco Baguia and the other half in Letemumo, an overland road leads north and connects the Suco with the country's northern coastal road. The road follows the border between the sucos, so that not only Quelicai, but also the places Butileo ( Batileo ), Laua-Liu ( Lacolio ) and Baguia are partly in Letemumo. The village of Laco Liu extends to the east over the border to Lacoliu. A little further south is the place Lacudala , which extends all the way to Bualale. The village of Bubolita is also located in the south of Sucos . In the north are the places Letemumo , Lebenei ( Lebene ) and Tabere .

In the Suco are the five Aldeias Lau-mana , Lebenei , Manome , Ruta and Uaidora .

history

Aquiles Freitas Soares , the Liurai of Letemumo, was a leading figure in the defensive fight against the Indonesian invaders from 1975. During the initially covert occupation of Bobonaro by the Indonesians, Soares earned his reputation for his heroic resistance in Atabae in October and November 1975. After the fall From Atabae on November 26, Soares and his men took 64 children in a long walk back to Quelicai, where they arrived in early January 1976. The children were sent to Atabae to be trained by Soares.

Due to internal tensions, Soares was executed at Vemasse , along with other men from his Comando da Luta Boru-Quere by FRETILIN between December 1976 and January 1977.

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Mateus Soares Ximenes elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected. In 2016 , Paulo Moreira Soares was elected Chefe de Suco.
