The section on fixing Grainberg is an Outbound prehistoric section mounting on the high plateau of the Grain mountain on the right bank of the Main in Heubach , a present-day borough of Carlstadt in the district of Main-Spessart in Bavaria .

The ramparts were certainly not only a refuge for Gambacher Hintersassen , but also served to secure Karlburg and the ford through the Main below. Readings from the enclosure point to the 7th – 8th Century. Nothing is known about the castle's abandonment.

Only the remains of ramparts and moats remain from the former castle .
