Section fortification Wettenburg

The portion fixing betting Castle is an Outbound section mounting on the ridge " Kingdom of Heaven " about 2,400 meters east of Castle Kreuzwertheim in the main town district of the market Kreuzwertheim in the district of Main-Spessart in Bavaria .

The fortification, which consists of four section walls, was built or changed in various cultural stages . The complex was probably used as a fortification since the Neolithic Age , as evidenced by finds from the time of the urnfield culture . Excavations between 1981 and 1988 testify that it was also used in the late Hallstatt / early La Tène period , the migration period and in the late Middle Ages . A suspected use during the early Middle Ages could not be sufficiently proven by finds.

Wall and moat remains from the former castle complex have been preserved.
