Achim Hölter

Achim Hermann Hölter (born July 8, 1960 in Dülken ) is a German comparator and literary scholar .

After studying German, Medieval Studies, Philosophy, General Literature and Romance Studies in Wuppertal and Düsseldorf , Hölter was an assistant at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . In 1988 he received his doctorate with the thesis: Ludwig Tieck . History of literature as poetry , his habilitation in 1993 with the work Die Invaliden. The forgotten history of the war cripple in European literature up to the 19th century .

From 1994–95 he was a substitute professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum , and from 1995 to 1997 he was a Heisenberg fellow of the German Research Foundation at the University of Bonn . From 1997 to 2009, Hölter was professor for comparative literature at the University of Münster , and since September 2009 he has been professor for comparative literature at the University of Vienna .
