Achim Lenz (* 1978 in Chur ) is a Swiss drama and music theater director , author and lecturer at the Folkwang University of the Arts .

education

After studying Classical Philology and Ancient History at the University of Basel , Achim Lenz completed his directorial studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen in 2008 .

Drama and music theater

The productions developed during his training attracted a great deal of attention: TANN-Ö-D , created as an ensemble work as part of the meeting of all German-speaking drama schools, was awarded the Max Reinhardt Prize of the Austrian Federal Ministry in 2008 and the final production Alkestis by Euripides became a Körber in 2008 -Studio for young directors at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg .

In February 2010, the production of Öderland, based on Max Frisch's Count Öderland, followed at the Chur Theater and in January 2012 he caused further sensation in the choral theater with the language piece Die Wolfshaut about the suppressed history of a village based on the novel by Hans Lebert . Achim Lenz was a member of the festival management and director of the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival in Lower Saxony for three years and has been a lecturer for music theater and drama at the Folkwang University of the Arts since 2010. Achim Lenz works as a freelance director at renowned theaters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He is also active as an author in the field of drama and music theater and translates ancient plays. Achim Lenz has been director of the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival since 2017 .
