history

The village was first mentioned in the history books about a thousand years ago. At that time, however, the place was still directly on the forest. After a fire, it was rebuilt down the valley. A post office had existed in Ackenhausen since 1891 . Wilhelm Bornemann (1891–1900) and Lina Bornemann (1901–1916) were employed as postal agents. On March 1, 1974, Ackenhausen was incorporated into the city of Bad Gandersheim.
