Dannhausen is a district of Bad Gandersheim in the Northeim district in Lower Saxony .

geography

The place is about 6 km east of the city center of Bad Gandersheim on the B 64 . The Klei and Wausterberg surveys are part of the Dannhausen field mark. Both belong to the Heber ridge .

history

The first documented mention of the village comes from the year 1007, when Bishop Bernward von Hildesheim confirmed the ownership of 23 places to the Gandersheim monastery , including Dannhausen. From the place name ending in -hausen it can be deduced that the village is older. The places ending with -husen / or -hausen are dated from the 5th to the 9th century. They are younger than those with the endings -ade and -ahe, such as the neighboring villages Engelade and Bilderlahe (before the 5th century), but older than the places with the endings -rode, such as Ellierode , Wolperode or Wrescherode (10th to 11th century). The name of the place was 1007 Dandanhusi, 1229 Dandenhusen and 1524 Dannenhusen. The first syllable (then-) to derive from firs is doubtful, because there were neither firs nor spruce forests in the pre-Harz region when the place was founded. It is possible to derive it from a no longer known personal name (see Ackenhausen ).

On March 1, 1974, Dannhausen was incorporated into the city of Bad Gandersheim.

politics

Mayor is Harald Hausmann.

Worth seeing

To the southeast of the village is the headstone, also known as the Vierämterstein. It marks the point of the border of the former offices of Gandersheim, Westerhof, Staufenburg and Seesen of the Kingdom of Hanover . The offices were dissolved after the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by Prussia and reorganized into circles. (see Office (municipal law) )

A milestone in the form of an obelisk on the B64 towards Seesen from the Braunschweig period belongs to the village . It shows the distance in miles to Seesen (1 mile) and Höxter (9¼ miles). A country or post mile is approximately 7500 meters.

church

Dannhausen belongs to the parish association Herrhausen, Dannhausen, Engelade . The St. Martin Church in the village dates from the 11th century and served as an outpost of the former monastery in Gandersheim. The weather vane on the top of the church tower is decorated with a sheep with a flag as the municipality's coat of arms.
