Dankelsheim is a district in Bad Gandersheim in Lower Saxony in the Northeim district .

geography

Dankelsheim is about five kilometers northeast of the city center of Bad Gandersheim. The village is in the Börde des Hebers east of the Helleberg .

history

The first mention of the place comes from the year 1129, when the place called "Thancoluisse" at that time was in the area of Burchard I of Loccum . Two free heirs left goods in the place, which Lothar III. at the request of his wife Richenza von Northeim gave the recently founded Clus monastery. In the Hildesheim collegiate feud , it was completely devastated. From 1523 the monastery courtyard was rebuilt.

On March 1, 1974, Dankelsheim was incorporated into the city of Bad Gandersheim.

Attractions

In the village is the Johanniskirche, whose parish belongs to the provost of Bad Gandersheim . The stone building replaced a wooden chapel in 1470. It was renovated several times, including in 1607 by the first Protestant abbot, Georg Schünemann, and in 1875.
