Adam Hess (born April 4, 1981 in Warren , Michigan ) is a former American basketball player who played, among other things, in the basketball league . Hess, who has German ancestors, is married to a German and has had German citizenship since the beginning of 2012 .

career

Hess first studied in his native state at Eastern Michigan University , where he was active for the Eagles' college team in the NCAA . After moving to college at the College of William & Mary and taking a one-year break in accordance with the regulations of the NCAA, he played for three more years for the college team from the state of Virginia called Tribe . In his last two years as a basketball player, he had a point average of just over 20 points per game.

After completing his studies, Hess first signed a professional contract with Fabriano Basket in the Italian second division Legadue , but then played in the following two seasons in Nymburk in the Czech Republic , in which he was champion with the local club. In 2006 he moved to Artland for the first time and was surprisingly runner-up in 2007 with the Dragons based there , after defeating the main round first Alba Berlin in the play-offs and defending champion RheinEnergie Cologne in the semi-finals . In the cup, too, it was only enough to win the runner-up. Then Hess was signed by the French champions from Roanne and played in the ULEB Euroleague . In the new edition of the previous year's final of the French championship in 2008 they were clearly inferior to SLUC Nancy Basket . Hess returned to Artland for the 2008/09 basketball Bundesliga , which ended disappointingly with missing the play-offs in ninth place. Then Hess joined the Spanish second division promoted from Tarragona , before he was brought back again in 2010 by the Artland Dragons.

On August 13, 2012, Phoenix Hagen announced the winger's commitment for the 2012/13 season. For the 2013/14 season, Hess did not receive a new contract in Hagen and moved within the league to ratiopharm ulm . There he signed a working paper with a term until 2015. After his contract in Ulm had expired, Hess returned to Phoenix Hagen and signed a contract there until the summer of 2017. When the team went bankrupt at the end of 2016 and was canceled from the Bundesliga, Hess' professional career ended .

In his blog on the websites of the Euroleague and Artland Dragons, Hess reported on the life of a professional basketball player.

After the end of his competitive sports career, he moved with his German wife Julia and their children to St. Petersburg in the US state of Florida . Hess worked there for a financial service provider. In 2018 Hess was inducted into the "Sports Hall of Fame" of the College of William & Mary.
