Adam Prosper Burzyński

Ladislas Adam Prosper Burzyński (born July 19, 1755 in Wojakowicz , † September 9, 1830 in Sandomierz ) was Bishop of Sandomierz .

Life

At the age of 18 he joined the religious order of the Franciscan Reformates in 1773 , studied theology and was ordained a priest for the Franciscan order on September 19, 1778 . He went to Rome and then for 20 years a mission to Egypt , where he served as a military chaplain in Napoleon's army , and to Syria . In 1815 he returned to Poland and the Sandomierz diocese.

On October 5, 1819 he was appointed bishop of Sandomierz and confirmed by Pope Pius VII on March 19, 1820 . He was ordained bishop on May 26, 1820 in the Cathedral of Sandomierz by the Archbishop of Warsaw Szczepan Hołowczyc ; Co- consecrators were Adam Michał Prażmowski , Bishop of Płock , and Feliks Łukasz Lewiński , Bishop of Podlachia o Janów .

On September 1, 1820, he founded a seminar for 20 alumni . As bishop he had a seat and vote in the Senate , in whose meetings he regularly attended during the eleven years of his episcopate.

He found his final resting place in the crypt of the Cathedral of Sandomierz.
