Adams Memorial (National Memorial)

The Adams Memorial in Washington, DC is a planned National Memorial in the United States . It is intended to commemorate John Adams who was the second President of the United States .

In 2001, the United States Congress officially approved the construction of a memorial for Adams, and the Adams Memorial Foundation , established for this purpose, has been collecting funds for the construction of the monument on the National Mall . A point in time for the construction is not yet in sight.

Only a tombstone in Section E of Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington reminds of Adams , the special feature of which is an allegorical bronze sculpture by the sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens . The encased figure sits on a block of granite that represents one side of a hexagonal floor plan designed by architect Stanford White . In his hometown of Quincy , Massachusetts, Adams National Historical Park is dedicated to all prominent members of the Adams family.
