The Addiko Bank AG is a bank holding company headquartered in Vienna . This emerged from the takeover and continuation of the so-called Balkan business of Hypo Alpe Adria . There are six subsidiary banks that operate in Bosnia and Herzegovina , Croatia , Montenegro , Serbia and Slovenia .

history

Hypo Alpe Adria Bank began strong expansion in the Balkans at the turn of the millennium . For example, in 2001 it took over Auro Bank from Mostar with its business operations in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and incorporated it into the group as Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank dd, Mostar. A year later she also took over the Kristal Bank from Banja Luka with the business operations in the Republika Srpska and incorporated it into the group as Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank ad, Banja Luka.

When Hypo Alpe Adria, which was burdened by financial and corruption affairs , was converted into a bad bank , the six banks in the Balkans were previously sold to the Austrian financial market participation company FIMBAG .

On December 23, 2014 again the Balkan daughters went with total assets of around EUR 8.4 billion, 245 branches and 1.15 million customers to its current owners of AI Lake (Luxembourg) S.à rl , which in turn the consortium of owned by the US fund Advent and the Eastern European bank EBRD . In accordance with EU requirements, the network was to be re-privatized by mid-2015.
