Adele Walker , previously Adele Turner , (born August 10, 1976 in Whitehaven ) is a former British biathlete .

Adele Walker training on roller skis

Adele Walker, like almost all British biathletes, serves in the British armed forces. The corporal starts for the 29 LS Regiment Royal Logistic Corps and is trained by Jason Sklenar and her husband Marc Walker . The Kendalerin has been practicing biathlon since 2001. Walker, who trains in South Cerney , has been a member of the British national team since 2002 . She made her first international race in Geilo in 2003 as part of the Biathlon European Cup and was the last to cross the finish line in her races. In the course of the season she was able to improve her performance somewhat and was first used in the Biathlon World Cup at the beginning of the 2004/05 season . Walker finished her debut race in Beitostølen , Norway , as 101st. The first major event was the Biathlon World Championships 2005 in Hochfilzen with ranks 87th in the individual and 93rd in the sprint. The next season brought the British woman's best World Cup result so far , with 65th place in a sprint at Holmenkollen in Oslo . At the 2006 European Biathlon Championships in Langdorf , Walker finished 52nd in the individual, 53rd in the sprint and 43rd in the pursuit. It was not until 2008 that she ran again at major events. First she was 87th in the individual and 71st in the sprint at the World Championships in Östersund , then 36th in the individual at the EC , a comparatively very good 27th in the sprint and 34th in the pursuit.

Nationally, Walker is one of the most outstanding British biathletes, but was somewhat overshadowed by Emma Fowler in the mid-2000s . She won 23 titles in biathlon, plus six titles and two runner-up championships in cross-country skiing: relay champion 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, 2003 and 2005 title, 2004 runner-up over 10 km and runner-up 2007 over 7.5 km in free technique .
