Emma Fowler (born June 5, 1979 in Taunton ) is a former British biathlete .

Career

Emma Fowler, like almost all British biathletes, serves in the British Armed Forces. The sergeant starts for the 1st LS Regiment Royal Logistic Corps and is trained by Walter Pichler . The Canningtoner has been practicing biathlon since 1997 and has been a member of the British national team since 1998. She made her first international races as part of the Summer Biathlon World Championships in 1998 in Osrblie , where she was 32nd in both the sprint and the pursuit. She ran the first winter race in 1999 as part of the Biathlon European Cup in Friedenweiler and was 21st in the sprint. Only a little later she came 33rd in the individual at the Junior World Championships in Pokljuka . In Alt St. Johann she was second behind Brigitte Weisleitner in a European Cup sprint. in March 2000 Fowler started in Ruhpolding for the first time in the biathlon world cup . In her first race, a sprint, she was 73rd. Her best results in this competition were achieved in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons with results in the top 50, including a 44th place in the Oberhof pursuit . In 2001 , 2005 , 2007 and 2008 Fowler took part in biathlon world championships . She achieved the best results in 2005 in Hochfilzen with places 53 in the sprint and 55 in the pursuit. Previous career highlight was the participation in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin , where the Briton was the first woman from the United Kingdom in biathlon started and was 78th in singles and 76th of the sprint. In 2010 she ended her career as a biathlete in the national team.

Nationally, Fowler has been the measure of all things for British women since the mid-2000s. She was able to win titles at the national championships 25 times, in 2004 even all five possible. There are also the titles in the relay at the cross-country championships in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 as well as the title over 7.5 km in free technology in 2007 and 2004 over 10 km.

Fowler missed the entire 2002/03 season because she was serving as a soldier in the Gulf War .
