Tilly-Haus Höxter 2013

The Adelshof Heisterman von Ziehlberg is one of the large building complexes in the old town of the East Westphalian town of Höxter in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is one of the buildings that were built in the Weser Renaissance style.

The courtyard consists of three gabled half-timbered houses and an eaves structure. The so-called Tillyhaus is located directly on Westerbachstrasse, the other two houses are further into the courtyard. The Adelshof, built in 1582, is a testament to the close relationship between Höxter and Corvey .

description

The Tillyhaus on Westerbachstrasse, with its eaves-facing extension to the east, belongs to the former Heisterman von Ziehlbergschen Hof . It is directly adjacent to a hotel. The building now consists of three floors and a two-story substructure. A cantilevered floor is integrated into the facade with a three-branched and richly carved bay window , which consists of three wooden consoles with four columns of Ionic capitals . The carvings on the window parapets on the bay window show reliefs of the ancient muses Erato and Thalia , who stand for love poetry and comedy. The top gable of the house Tilly concludes with the double-headed eagle of the Habsburgs from.

The two buildings facing towards the courtyard, which currently house the forum of the Jewish painter Jacob Pins , are three or two- story structures built parallel to each other.

history

The Adelshof in Westerbachstrasse consisted of four partially connected houses, the two houses facing towards the courtyard and the Eigenhof called Tillyhaus, acquired as civil property with the front facing Westerbachstrasse.

It was awarded as a feudal court by Corvey Abbey for military and administrative tasks . The building history of the Adelshof goes back to the 13th century, as can be seen in the stone house with its stepped gable, which was later built over .

In 1556 the Lehnshof came into family ownership for three centuries.

Former Propsteihof the pin Niggenkerken was 1,582 at the Corveyer verlehnt Chancellor Johann Heisterman and inherited 1610th For three centuries it remained in the possession of the family ennobled in 1652.

During the Thirty Years' War the property was used as a refuge for the Corveyer Abbot and his court .

In its late medieval core, the building was characterized by numerous renovations from the 16th to 18th centuries. After extensive renovation work, the building now houses the Forum Jacob Pins . The museum shows the artist's works and sees itself as a place of remembrance of the former Jewish fellow citizens.

In 1610, the two houses of the Lehnshof were added to the two courtyard-facing houses, the Tillyhaus, directly on Westerbachstrasse, with the eaves-side house built as an extension in 1585 on the eastern side.

The famous Field Marshal Tilly moved into the Tillyhaus, which belongs to the Adelshof, during the Thirty Years' War .

The existing buildings that can still be found today, however, have been rebuilt and changed over and over again over the centuries. For example, the house next to the Tillyhaus was spun off from the complex and sold in the 19th century.

In 1881 the Heisterman von Ziehlberg family, ennobled in the 17th century, sold the farm. In 1920 the Tillyhaus passed to the city of Höxter.

The two buildings facing towards the courtyard, which today house the Forum Jacob Pins , were converted into a cultural monument through the restoration completed in 2008.

The Tillyhaus is also to be given a new use again through the establishment of the Anja Niedringhaus forum .
