Adolar's fantastic adventures (Hungarian Mézga Aladár különös kalandjai , literally Adolar Mézga's fantastic adventures ) is a Hungarian cartoon series from 1969–1974 by József Romhányi and József Nepp. Thematically and personally, it largely follows on from the cartoon series Hot Wire into the Hereafter .
The series was dubbed by DEFA for GDR television . There is also a West German dubbed version of Bavaria Film under the title Archibald der Weltraumtrotter . All 13 episodes were shown here, while one episode was left out in the DEFA version. In February 2004 the twelve episodes of the DEFA version were released on DVD .
action
12 year old Adolar is a genius. In the evening he fetches an inflatable spaceship from his violin case, the “Gulliverkli”, in which he flies to other planets. His talking dog Schnuffi is almost always there.
The fine irony and hidden social criticism of the Eastern European filmmakers is common to all of the consequences.

The Mézga series
Adolar's fantastic adventures are part of a series of three series about the Mézga / Metzger family (Hungarian Mézga család ). Each series consists of 13 episodes of 24 minutes each. The series enjoys cult status especially in East Germany (with the exception of the third series, which is not available in German) as well as in Hungary , the Czech Republic , Slovakia , Brazil and Italy and is regularly repeated there on television.
The individual series have the following (quite different) titles internationally:
- Hot line to the afterlife (ung. Üzenet a jövőből - A Mézga család különös kalandjai , Czech Odkaz budoucnosti aneb Podivuhodná dobrodružství rodiny Smolíkovy , Slovak Miazgovci I , English The Mézga family ). In this series I succeed in making contact with a descendant of the Mézgas from the 30th century.
- Adolars fantastic adventures / Archibald, the space trotter (Hungarian Mézga Aladár különös kalandjai , Czech Podivuhodná dobrodružství Vladimíra Smolíka , Slovak Miazgovci II , English The Adventures of Aladár Mézga )
- The adventures of the Mézga family (Hungarian Vakáción a Mézga család , Czech Podivuhodné prázdniny rodiny Smolíkovy , Slov. Miazgovci na cestách ). In this series, the whole family goes on a world tour at the invitation of Hufnágel Pisti. The plot is continuous.
