Life

Foreign attended the Stuttgart art school , where he was a student of Bernhard Neher and Theodor Wagner . From 1874 he studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Ernst Hähnel . Two years later he became an assistant in Adolf von Donndorf's studio in Stuttgart. In 1886 he won second prize in a competition for a memorial for Johann Heinrich Dannecker in Stuttgart, the last pupil of which he called himself. He was friends with the stone sculptor Kurt Fanghänel , and it is believed that he was instrumental in foreign works made of stone. More often, however, Fremd created models for bronze casting . Monument busts, reliefs and larger-than-life figures were created.
