Adolf Gandner

Adolf Gandner (born May 13, 1898 in Karden ; † July 14, 1969 in Bad Bertrich ) was a German politician and district administrator in the Cochem district .

Life

In the period from October 1, 1932 to April 30, 1934, Gandner was the mayor of Eller , based in Ediger . After the Americans marched into the Moselle region in March 1945, Gandner was picked up at home in Ediger, assigned to the new district administrator and taken to Cochem . His first main task was to take care of the reconstruction of the destruction caused by the war in the district. The largest structures to be rebuilt were u. a. the two road bridges in Cochem and in Treis-Karden, as well as the Ediger-Eller railway bridge, which was put back into operation in December 1947. The rest of the reconstruction work focused on the buildings destroyed around 1520 and many schools in the district, the Cochem parish church, the Franziskus hospital, the district building and many other public buildings. After his term in office, Gandner was elected on December 14, 1948 as a member of the district committee of the Cochem district, to which he belonged until 1952. He was also the first district deputy and a member of various commissions of the district. For his 20 years as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kreissparkasse Cochem, he was awarded the Dr. Johann Christian Medal in gold on October 25, 1958 - presented by District Administrator Severin Bartos . After his death, Gandner found his final resting place in the cemetery of the Waldfrieden Monastery.
