Walther Langen

Walther August Langen (born July 28, 1857 in Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte , today Troisdorf , † August 22, 1912 in Cologne ) was a German banker , industrialist and district administrator in the Cochem district .

Life

From 1876 Langen studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin . He was active in the Corps Hansea Bonn and the Corps Bremensia Göttingen . In 1879 he became a trainee lawyer in Bonn. In 1880 he graduated as Dr. iur.

From 1882 he worked as a government trainee in Arnsberg, Burg and Potsdam, and in 1886 as a government assessor in Gumbinnen . In 1887 he was entrusted with the administration of the Lyck District Office . In 1888 he became district administrator in the district of Cochem. In 1894 Langen resigned from the civil service at his own request and was appointed director of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Bodencreditbank in Cologne and in 1897 joined the board of A. Schaaffhausen'sche Bankverein . Here he was mainly active in industrial finance , namely in mining . He was chairman of the supervisory board of the Trier mining companies, the international drilling company in Erkelenz, the international coal mining company , the Deutsche Mineralien-Industrie AG and the civil engineering and refrigeration industry AG formerly Gebhardt & König in Nordhausen. He was a member of the supervisory board of numerous industrial companies . On June 20, 1912, he left the A. Schaaffhausen'schen Bankverein for health reasons.
