Adolf Keller (doctor)
Adolf Keller (also Keller-Hoerschelmann ; born December 1, 1879 in Egnach Thurgau; † August 17, 1969 in Cademario Tessin; reformed ; resident in Birwinken ) was a Swiss doctor and naturopath .
Life
Adolf Keller was born on December 1, 1879 in Egnach as the son of the cheese maker Albert Keller and Pauline, née Häberlin. After attending grammar school in Frauenfeld , Keller studied medicine at the Universities of Lausanne , Berlin and Zurich . In 1905 he received his doctorate in Zurich with the work Investigations on the bactericidal effect of mercury light , which he wrote at the bacteriological department of the Hygiene Institute of the University of Zurich, headed by William Silberschmidt .
Subsequently, at the suggestion of Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner , Keller accepted a position as an assistant doctor in Bremen with Franz Schönenberger , a pioneer of the naturopathic movement. From 1907 he was head of the Fellenberg sanatorium in Erlenbach in addition to the management of a medical practice in Zurich .
In 1914 he founded the Kurhaus Cademario near Lugano, which he ran until his death. There he developed his own natural healing method with sport , diet and suggestion etc. a., which he made known in numerous writings, courses and lectures. Since the 1920s, he published the monthly Cademario-Nachrichten as an in-house magazine , which saw themselves as “guides for physical and mental health care”.
Keller was editor of the Swiss magazine Volksgesundheit for about six years. He was married to the German-Baltic woman Herda, the daughter of Edwin von Hoerschelmann from Reval . Adolf Keller died on August 17, 1969 at the age of 89 in Cademario.
He was also a keen cactus lover, and he also published some writings on it.
