Adolf Spilker

Adolf Spilker (born July 4, 1863 in Vilsen , † January 26, 1954 in Bonn ) was a German chemist and technician.

life and work

Spilker studied chemistry at the Berlin University . After receiving his doctorate, he worked in the scientific laboratory of the Society for Tar Utilization in Erkner from 1889 to 1936 . There the chemistry and technology of coal tar and petroleum were his research fields.

After the First World War , Adolf Spilker founded the "Gesellschaft für Teerstraßenbau mbH Hannover" in 1918 in the young Weimar Republic - together with the road builder Kurt Lüer .

In retirement , Spilker retired to Medinghoven Castle in Duisdorf near Bonn.
