Adolf Wüstefeld

Adolf Ludwig Friedrich Wüstefeld (born January 21, 1827 in Hanover ; † January 5, 1901 there ) was a German general practitioner , author and draftsman .

Life

Adolf Wüstefeld was the son of the Hanover regimental horse doctor Heinrich Ludwig Wüstefeld . He attended the Lyceum in Hanover from 1835 to 1847 and began studying medicine in Göttingen in the winter semester of 1847. In the following summer semester he was one of the founders of the Hannovera fraternity . In spring 1851 he completed his studies with a doctorate to become a Dr. med. and then passed the state medical examination in Hanover. Wüstefeld then studied at the higher trade school in Hanover under matriculation number 2456 of October 14, 1853 . In 1855 he joined the medical service of the armed forces of the Kingdom of Hanover. He served for a year with the Train Battalion, after which he first became an assistant doctor in the Guard Jäger Battalion at the military hospital in Hanover, before he was transferred to the Royal Guard Grenadier Regiment in Hanover. In 1866 he was a member of the Guard Jäger Battalion and took part in the campaign of the army of the Kingdom of Hanover against Prussia. After the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by Prussia, he was accepted into the Prussian military service and in 1868 served as a medical officer in the 3rd Fusilier Battalion of the 3rd Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 16 based in Hanover. In the war of 1870/71 his regiment was deployed in France; this was one of the German units that did not leave France until 1873, after reparations had been paid under the Frankfurt Peace Treaty of May 10, 1871. After several assignments at other locations, Adolf Wüstefeld became regimental doctor of the well-known Königs-Ulanen-Regiment (1st Hannoversches) No. 13 , to which Kaiser Wilhelm II. He has made a name for himself with the Association for the History of the City of Hanover, which he joined in 1893 when it was founded and to which he was a member of the board for several years. He also made a name for himself as a draftsman of motifs from the cityscape of Hanover; some of his drawings are in the Hanover Historical Museum .
