Baron Wilhelm Adolf von Seckendorff (born January 7, 1801 in Leipzig , † October 20, 1866 in Halle (Saale) ) was a Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the Neisse fortress .

Life

origin

His parents were the Premier Lieutenant a. D., chief forest master and heir on Zingst in the Querfurt district , Christian Adolf von Seckendorff (* October 4, 1767 - August 29, 1833) and his wife Wilhelime Susanne, née Bauer (* 1774 - August 26, 1809).

Career

He joined the 30th Infantry Regiment as a fusilier in 1819 . There he was promoted to Portepeefähnrich on May 23, 1820 and to Seconde-Lieutenant on October 20, 1821. From 1828 to 1830 he was employed as a regimental adjutant; on March 30, 1830, he was appointed adjutant in the commandant's office of the fortress of Luxembourg . Appointed Premier-Lieutenant on January 14, 1834, he came to the 39th Infantry Regiment on October 10, 1836, leaving his command . On November 25, 1848, he joined the 26th Infantry Regiment as a major. During the Baden Revolution in 1849 he took part in the battle near Ubstadt . On March 30, 1852 he was appointed commander to III. Battalion of the 26th Landwehr Regiment transferred to Neuhaldensleben . There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on July 13, 1854 and came to the Neisse fortress as commander on July 9, 1857, and on August 15, 1857, he was assigned à la suite of the 26th Infantry Regiment. He received his appointment as colonel on May 22, 1858, but was put up for disposition on May 3, 1860, with permission to wear the uniform of the 26th Infantry Regiment . On 22 March 1863 he then received his farewell to the character as a major general and a pension. He died on October 20, 1866 in Halle an der Saale.

He married on April 16, 1828 in Koblenz Wilhelmine Gerhardine Natalie Leontine von Ribbentrop (* 23 May 1810, † 11 October 1866), a daughter of the Secret War Council Siegmund Erich von Ribbentrop. The couple had several children:
