Adalbert Constantin von Dobschütz (born March 3, 1824 in Jacobsdorf, Liegnitz district ; † January 29, 1895 in Wiesbaden ) was a Prussian colonel .

family

Dobschütz came from the von Dobschütz family , an old Silesian noble family of landowners and officers , and was the son of the Prussian captain Ernst Sylvius von Dobschütz, landlord on Kreike and Weigwitz, both districts of Breslau , Jacobsdorf, districts of Liegnitz and Nieder-Streit, district of Striegau ( all in Lower Silesia ), and his second wife Luise, née Stuppe.

His first marriage was on June 21, 1855 in Süsswinkel , Oels district , Caroline Rönkendorf (* January 20, 1833 in Süsswinkel, † January 20, 1863 in Strehlen ), the daughter of the district councilor and domain tenant Carl Rönkendorf and Fanny Schiller. From this marriage Dobschütz had three sons, one of them was Major General Carl von Dobschütz .

His second marriage was on July 11, 1865 in Halle (Saale) Anna Freiin von Seckendorff (* December 25, 1835 in Luxemburg , † February 17, 1919 in Halle (Saale)), the daughter of the Prussian Major General Wilhelm Adolf von Seckendorff ( 1801–1866) and the Leontine von Ribbentrop (1810–1866). The theologian Ernst von Dobschütz was the only child from this second marriage . Mother and son often corresponded with the pastors Friedrich von Bodelschwingh the elder and his son Friedrich von Bodelschwingh the younger .

Military background

From 1835 Dobschütz trained as a cadet in Potsdam and from 1837 the training as a cadet in Berlin was continued. In 1840 he was promoted to second lieutenant and in 1845 transferred to regimental adjutant . In 1855 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and in 1858 to Rittmeister . In 1861 von Dobschütz was appointed squadron chief in the 1st Silesian Hussar Regiment No. 4 , received the Royal Crown Order, Third Class with Swords , in 1866 and was promoted to major . From 1870 he was a staff officer in the 2nd Westphalian Hussar Regiment No. 11 . In January 1871 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and from April 1871 was commander of the Neumärk Dragoon Regiment No. 3 . He took part in the Franco-German War with his regiment . The Official War News reported on January 23, 1871: “A flying column under Lieutenant Colonel Dobschütz blew up Mobilgarden in the area of Bourmont on the upper Maas . Enemy casualties over 180 men; 4 wounded on this side. ”Dobschütz was promoted to Prussian colonel in 1873 and retired from military service in 1875.
