Adolph Dietrich Weber

Adolph Dietrich Weber , also often Adolf Dietrich Weber (born June 17, 1753 in Rostock , † November 18, 1817 ibid) was a German law scholar and university professor .

Life

Adolph Dietrich Weber was the son of Rostock syndic Isaac Joachim Weber. He received private lessons until 1768, including from Gustav Schadeloock . He then began studying law at the University of Rostock . In 1770 he moved to the University of Jena , where he was particularly under the influence of Karl Friedrich Walch . In 1771 he was accepted as a member of the disputing college, which was chaired by Walch. In 1773 he returned to his hometown. He continued to study law and became an attorney and procurator in Rostock in 1775 at the law office and the city's higher court. 1776, he was at the Law Faculty of the University of Bützow with the dissertation De Sententiis et re iudicata, intuitu Principis ac legis nouae to Dr. iur. PhD . In the same year he completed his habilitation at the Rostock University, where he taught as a private lecturer from then on .

In 1784 Weber accepted a call as associate professor of law at the University of Kiel . There he was also given the office of university sydic in 1784 . In 1786 he was given the full professorship for criminal trial, Roman law and civil procedure law in Kiel .

In 1791 Weber accepted a call as ducal professor of law and returned to Rostock University. He taught civil law, and he is said to have had a wealth of knowledge of Roman law and German law . In Rostock he taught until the end of his life. Between 1792 and 1816 he held the office of dean seven times . From 1814 he was also vice-president of the ducal-Mecklenburg consistory .

A portrait can be seen in the auditorium of the main building of the University of Rostock .

His younger brother (Johann Joachim) Heinrich Weber (* May 24, 1757 in Rostock; † June 15, 1826 in Stavenhagen) also became a lawyer and was governor in the Domanialamt Stavenhagen. He was a godfather of the Low German writer Fritz Reuter and as "Amthauptmann Weber" literary figure in Reuters Ut de Franzosentid (1859).
