Adrian Eugen Hollaender (born January 20, 1971 ) is an Austrian author and lawyer .

Biography & work

Adrian Hollaender is the son from the first marriage of Ioan Holender , the former director of the Vienna State Opera . Together with his mother, the actress and former professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , Ariane Hollaender-Calix, Adrian Hollaender runs an artist agency.

Hollaender graduated from Döblinger Gymnasium (BG XIX) in Vienna in June 1989 . He then studied law at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 2001. As early as 1995, he was committed to the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) and tried to run for the National Council. Due to allegations about his business practices, this was canceled by the FPÖ, nevertheless Hollaender was gladly invited as an expert to FPÖ events.

After passing the bar exam , he is a licensed attorney and practices in his own law firm in Vienna's 5th district . Hollaender also headed the private center for legal research he founded in Vienna, publishes in legal journals in Austria and has authored several legal books. In May 2007 he moderated a lecture and discussion event, which he helped to organize , in the Austrian parliament and which dealt with the Austrian fundamental rights complaints law.

Teaching Professionally, he was in Austria accredited to the 2001 to 2003 as a private university International University Vienna , but lost its accreditation, as "associate professor" and is active (as of 2010, but this is not detectable at present (2018)) lecturer at the Babeş- Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (Eng. Klausenburg , Romania ).

Hollaender gained greater prominence through a regular column in the Kronen Zeitung , where he critically and negatively dealt with the European Union and in particular the Reform Treaty in line with the editorial policy prior to the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty by the Austrian National Council . In November 2007 he wrote a legal opinion according to which a referendum would be necessary to ratify the treaty in Austria.

He is also Richard Lugner's house attorney . Hollaender is involved as a lawyer in a lawsuit in the context of public sexual harassment against Sigrid Maurer .

Legal dispute over professor title

The news magazine profil , after consulting the Babeş-Bolyai University, reported doubts about the legality of Hollaender's title of (associate) university professor, which was also taken up by several newspapers. The media attorney Michael Rami brought an injunction against Hollaender at the Vienna Commercial Court because of unfair competition: "The defendant [Hollaender] has referred to himself in public for years and to this day [...] as a 'professor', 'university professor' and 'ao university professor', without being entitled to use such titles in Austria. ”Furthermore, Rami criticized the fact that Hollaender,“ literally dubbed a 'specialist writer' in the lawsuit, was also in charge of the 'Center for Legal Research' and the chairmanship that he himself had founded of a nonexistent parliamentary 'fundamental rights convention' famous. "

In June 2010 there was an omission settlement. Hollaender agreed to "no longer use the title of 'professor' or 'university professor' or 'extraordinary university professor' in business dealings or to allow himself to be referred to by these titles." In the same way, this comparison denied him to identify himself as " Head of the Center for Legal Research ”and as the“ Chairman of the Fundamental Rights Convention ”. This comparison was published in the Austrian Law Gazette.
