Adrianus Bleijs
Adrianus Cyriacus Bleijs (born March 29, 1842 in Hoorn , † January 12, 1912 in Kerkdriel ) was a Dutch architect .
Life
Adrianus Bleijs was born the son of a carpenter . After training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp , he joined Pierre Cuypers . After a dispute with Cuypers, he opened his own architecture office in Hoorn, his hometown.
Bleijs was one of the few Catholic architects of his time who did not build exclusively in the neo-Gothic style. He also designed churches in the neo-Romanesque and neo-renaissance styles. In addition to churches, he also designed two Amsterdam hospitals .
In 1903 he gave up his work as an architect in favor of a career as an employee in 's-Hertogenbosch . He died in Kerkdriel , where he was buried.
