The river has its source in the Cherski Mountains at an altitude of almost 2000 m, leaves the mountains in a north-westerly direction and then flows between it and the Verkhoyansk Mountains in a wide valley to the north and flows northeast of Verkhoyansk into the Jana. Near the mouth, the Adytscha is 360 m wide and 4.4 m deep; the flow velocity is 1.1 m / s, the mean water flow (MQ) 485 m³ / s.
The catchment area of the Adytscha covers 89,800 km² and lies entirely on the territory of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) . The most important tributaries are Delakag (Делакаг), Tscharky (Чаркы) and Tuostach (Туостах) from the right, and Derbeke (Дербеке), Nelgesse (Нельгесе) and Borulach (Борулах) from the left.
