Aelred Pexa

Aelred Pexa (born May 7, 1904 in Hohenberg , Lower Austria ; † August 5, 1974 in Heiligenkreuz , Lower Austria) was abbot of Rein Abbey .

Life

Julius Pexa was dressed as a novice in Heiligenkreuz Abbey on August 14, 1922 and was given the religious name Aelred. He was ordained a priest on May 16, 1926 in the St. Gabriel Mission House ( Mödling ). His first Mass he celebrated on 26 May 1926. It was followed higher studies at the University of Vienna , on 13 December 1930 where he became Dr. theol. received his doctorate. He was a lecturer and prefect at the Institutum Theologicum in Heiligenkreuz. In 1929 he took over the editing of the Heiligenkreuzer magazine Sancta Crux .

From 1945 to 1954 he was Prior of Heiligenkreuz. On August 19, 1954, he became abbot of Rein Abbey. The blessing he received by Abbot General Sighard Little on September 8, 1954, the Assistant Abbot President Karl Braunstorfer and the Abbot of Seckau, Benedict Reetz OSB. He remained in office until January 26, 1971. During the Reiner years he was a lecturer for moral theology at the University of Graz , mathematics teacher at the Stiftsgymnasium Rein and in adult education. After his retirement he returned to Heiligenkreuz Abbey and is buried there too.
